About New Directions

What is New Directions?

New Directions is Reading Borough Council’s Adult Learning Service. It provides a wide range of part-time courses for adults in the Reading area. New Directions has 3 main centres in Caversham, Reading Central Library & South Reading and also runs courses at the Avenue in Tilehurst, from Children's Centres and a number of local community venues.  

Each main New Directions centre has free job searching facilities. New Directions was rated 'Good' by an Ofsted report published on January 5th 2012. New Directions is part of the Reading Informal Adult Learning Network and works with a number of other providers and partners across Reading to deliver an accesible learning experience for residents in Reading. Our Mission
New Directions' mission is to provide best value adult, family learning and employment opportunities which meet the needs and aspirations of the whole community of Reading. Our employment services are free of charge and most courses are either subsidised by government funding or in some cases are free*.

How to enrol

To enrol at New Directions simple use our online enrolment process, or telephone, post or visit us. Early enrolment for courses is recommended to avoid disappointment. Once you join New Directions you will have access to a Customer Handbook, which is packed full of useful information, to help you get the most from our services.
